the less serious stuff ~ when i’m not marbling everything in sight, I love to cook for myself and others. I believe that dill is the most underrated herb. my other happy place is my garden. i’m a dog person. I’ve got a dutch shepherd named Riley and i love her a whole lot.
artist Statement
I work in a variety of printmaking methods including screen print, relief printing, and risograph. However, my favorite of all the printmaking methods is marbling- a process done by applying paint onto the surface of water that has been thickened. marbling is mesmerizing. it’s a practice of making where the artist does not have a ton of control over the outcome. you can choose what color and how much to add, but once your paint hits the surface of the water, it moves and flows with a mind of its own. I am inspired by emotion, what is happening in my personal world, and the world around me. I use color as a way to communicate places, feelings and memory. I experiment with materials, such as papers, fabrics, and found objects. Often my material choice compliments the subject matter.
