Invisible Value

Where do we place value in art?

How do we decide if something is successful?

Worth being shown in a gallery?

Spending your money on?

My process of making is where I choose to place my value in this piece. It’s not always about the finished product. As a printmaker, often my final piece is a print on paper, which is then nicely famed and hung to be viewed. With this project, Invisible Value, I have subtracted a layer of my printmaking process. These clothespins are used to hang what would normally be the finished product- my marbled prints. Instead, I have chosen to this functional object and flipped the script, making them the star of the show, emphasizing where importance in art making lives for me.
